Governor Impact at Castle View GB Meeting Spring 2019

The Chair and Headteacher discussed the Service Level Agreements for the forthcoming year.

Together with staff, the Chair reviewed the ‘Curriculum Overview for Whole School’.

The Finance Committee approved the improvements to the EYFS outdoor play area.  This was successfully installed during the Spring Half Term Holiday and was project managed by the Deputy Headteacher, who kept the committee members fully informed of the progress.

The Headteacher’s Performance Committee met to review the progress of this academic year’s target set for the Headteacher.

The Benchmarking Exercise was conducted by the Accountant, Headteacher, Chair of Governors, and the School Improvement Partner.

The Single Central Record has been checked and verified by the Vice-Chair of Governors.


Governor Impact at Castle View GB Meeting Autumn 2018

Mrs Vanessa Edwards commenced her appointed of Deputy Headteacher from September 2018.

The Governing Body have completed a skills audit to identify any requirements for training.

The Governing Body has received training from our ‘Data Protection Officer’ MaryAnn Davison with regard to the changes in Data Protection Law and the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) on May 25th 2018.

All Governors now have School or Local Authority email addresses to comply with GDPR.

Headteacher’s Performance Review is scheduled to be conducted in the near future.

All Health and Safety Policies, and Data Protection Policies have been reviewed and updated.

The Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and the Chair of Governors have reviewed the School Development Plan for 2018-2021.

The Chair, Headteacher, and Deputy Headteacher have met to discuss the changes in staff during the next academic year.


Governor Impact at Castle View GB Meeting Summer 2018

Shortly after the last Governor’s meeting the Headteacher Selection Panel of four Governors (including the Chair and Vice-Chair), together with the Divisional Manager for Education from the Local Authority, shortlisted and interviewed for the position of Headteacher.

As a result Ms Hannah Melarangi was appointed to the position.

The Headteacher and two members of the Governing Body, together with an external advisor, then commenced with the procedure of recruiting for the position of Deputy Headteacher.

Following the advertising of the post, receipt of applications, shortlisting, observations and interviewing, Mrs Vanessa Edwards, formerly of Willaston Primary School was appointed as Deputy Headteacher.  Her post will commence in September 2018.

A member of the Governing Body assisted in the SATs.

Governors continue to monitor and approve the policies covered by school, in particular those which have been affected/generated with regard to the changes in Data Protection Law and the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) on May 25th.

Meetings to discuss the staff requirements for the next academic year have taken place between the Chair and Headteacher, and are in hand to be implemented.

The Governor with Special Responsibilities for English met with the Lead Teacher for English to discuss the changes in writing assessment and how they are likely to affect KS1 & KS2 pupil outcomes this year.

A full budget meeting held with the Headteacher, Chair and Accountant in attendance has taken place, forecasting for the next three financial years; together with a benchmarking exercise to compare the school’s financial outlay with other schools within the local authority area.
